MSc in "Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Environment"
In October 2015, I was accepted in the MSc program "Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Environment", offered by the Department of Meteorology and Climatology, School of Geology, at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in Thessaloniki, Greece. I graduated in December 2017.
Dissertation
In the context of the MSc course, I worked on a Dissertation project entitled "Impact of climate variability on mosquito occurrence and malaria transmission in Greece", supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Eleni Katragkou. The Dissertation is available here. The final Dissertation presentation is available here.
Peer-reviewed Publication
The MSc Dissertation project was published in the Climatic Change journal. The full citation is: Karypidou, M.C., Almpanidou, V., Tompkins, A.M. et al. ICTP Workshop 2017
From May the 8th to May the 19th 2017 I attended the Workshop on Mathematical Models of Climate Variability, Environmental Change and Infectious Diseases, organized by ICTP in Trieste, Italy.
2nd Conference on Impact of Environmental Changes on Infectious Diseases
From the 17th to the 19th of May 2017 I attended the 2nd Conference on Impact of Environmental Changes on Infectious Diseases, held at ICTP in Trieste, Italy, presenting a poster entitled "Impact of climate variability on mosquito activity over Greece and linkages to malaria incidence".
Joint Thematic Workshop
The Joint Thematic Workshop held between Justus Liebig University Giessesn and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, took place on the 12th of October 2017, in Thessaloniki, Greece. Part of the MSc Dissertation project was presented with a talk, entitled "Linkages between bioclimatic and environmental conditions and the distribution of the An. sacharovi mosquito over Greece".
Talk at the Department of Geography, Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany
On the 6th of December 2017 I was invited by Prof. Juerg Luterbacher to deliver a talk entitled "Impacts of regional climate on mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases". The talk was given to Undergraduate students of the Department of Geography, at Justus Liebig University Giessen, in Giessen Germany.
